A hands-on exploration of costume making for performance. This series blends practical crafting skills with embodiment practices, guiding participants in creating a unique, sustainable costume piece from scrap fabric and upcycled materials. Through movement and creative play, you'll discover how costume can shape character and enhance performance.
No sewing or dance experience necessary. Materials and tools will be provided, though attendees are welcome to bring their own if desired. Participants will take home their custom made costume piece at the end of the workshop.

With over 15 years in the professional dance world, Lucy Doherty moves between stage, screen and studio, known for her expressive performance style and multidisciplinary approach. A lover of costume as second skin, Lucy's creative practice explores how fabric, form and movement shape one another, equal parts tactile craft and embodied ritual. She is co-founder of Otherworld, a queer-led dance company dedicated to visceral storytelling and community-rooted performance. From international campaigns to underground spaces, Lucy’s work lives where precision meets play, and where costume becomes a portal to transformation.
